Note: From 1992-2018, Keweenaw Natural Areas (KNA) was known at the North Woods Conservancy (NWC). The name was changed to more accurately represent our location and mission.

Welcome to the KNA Website!

Our mission is simple: to acquire Natural Areas to protect native habitats and wildlife, and provide public access.

Since 1992, we have established 6 Natural Areas in Keweenaw County totaling 1,100 acres with 2.1 mi of Lake Superior shoreline and 1.9 mi of the Gratiot River!  All are open to the public, free of charge.

KNA Raffle Tickets are now available! Win a 2019 Subaru CrossTrek, includes tax and license (a $32,500 value)! Tickets are $100 each, only 1,000 will be sold. Cash prizes for 2nd-5th! More info on the KNA Raffle page.  The Raffle benefits Seven Mile Point Natural Area.

Our Big New Project, the culmination of almost 28 years of effort in the Gratiot River area, is The Missing Linkage (TML). Please check it out.

KNA is an all-volunteer group, and we are funded 100% by donations. Our goal is to grow to 1,000 member-donors, each giving an average of $10/month (or $120 lump sum).

We hope you visit one or all of the KNA Natural Areas, and we hope you will inspired to join our group.
